//Florianópolis sketches 2024

Here are a few color pencil ketches made during a trip to my mother’s hometown, Florionópolis. This beautiful island is where now lives one of my dearest friends, Rafael, who hosted me and my girlfriend for an amazing time by the sea back in 2024. One recurring image on the sketches of that trip was a moth covering a character’s face - maybe recalling old stories from the island about witches that transformed themselves in moths. That image was later developed in the studio into one of the paintings featured on the exhibition ‘At Least We Have Learned Something Today’.
