Few places can offer a sense of friendliness and camaraderie quite like a public skatepark, and in Sassari, Sardinia, is certainly one of them, where the people are as sunny as their island.

We quickly got in accord in choosing the spot for this painting, and the upward-looking faces were inspired by the many road trips I took by car around the Gallura region. Filmmaker Costanza Parigi and I made instant friends, shared great conversations with the young boys and girls who called the place home, beneath an incredible colorful sunset.
