St-Louis, Senegal

In December 2019, I had the opportunity to go to St-Louis, Senegal, for a design-let art residency at the independent art studio Wawa. the one-monthart in residency at WAAW Senegal. There, I’ve worked in a project related to primary school and the Wolof language. You can check the project here.

But in my daily walks from my accommodation in Diamguene to the studio in the Île St-Louis I’ve met many nice people who soon found out my passion for drawing. So I’ve made portraits of newly made friendships in the café by the Faidherbe bridge, as also from a fashion show of young local designers, and even got a commission from the owner of a much-loved local restaurant called Chez Dasso. Three years after the trip, I gathered these ink drawings into a small publication, as a way of preserving those encounters and memories, with the hope of returning to beautiful Senegal someday.
