Metamorphosis: mural in Alexanderplatz, Berlin
This was a commissioned mural by a street art association in Berlin. Alongside six other artists, I painted the hoardings surrounding a construction site for a future skyscraper in the center of Berlin, at Alexanderplatz.
The proposed theme was “metamorphosis,” and I decided to develop a fluid composition based on curves and stylized natural elements, as a subtle response to the lack of trees and vegetation in such a vast, open urban space. At least temporarily, the grey concrete of the square was given some color, beyond the occasional billboards, temporary event stalls, and shopfronts.
The painting took eight spring days, some under strong sunlight, others through a chilly windblown and light rain. I used a mix of outdoor paint with brushes, and spray paint.
